The Joy and Sadness of Graduation

As I approach graduation from Murray State University, I’ve been reflecting on the incredible experience I've had over the past four years. I discovered a passion for my degree and formed lifelong friendships that have made this journey unforgettable.

While I'm excited for what the future holds, I also feel a bittersweet sadness in knowing that this new chapter may mean moving away from my friends. Despite the distance, I hope we can stay connected as we embark on our individual journeys.

As I prepare to close this chapter, I carry with me not only my degree but also a wealth of memories and experiences. Murray State has truly been an adventure to cherish.

Thumpers Tantrums

I’d like to introduce you to Thumper, my adorable Holland Lop named after one of my favorite movies, Bambi. Weighing just 3 pounds, he may be tiny, but his personality is enormous!

Thumper has a flair for the dramatic. If he's fed even a minute late, he throws a full-on bunny tantrum. Grooming days are equally challenging—whether it’s brushing or trimming his nails, Thumper isn’t shy about expressing his displeasure.

Living with Thumper has taught me that small pets can have big personalities. He fills my days with joy and laughter, and I wouldn't trade his sass for anything.

My Childhood Friend

I was lucky to grow up with my best friend living right across the street. We’d hop off the school bus and race to each other, often tumbling over in laughter. Some of my best childhood memories are from those carefree days.

As we’ve grown older, we’ve had times when we weren’t in touch, but every time we reconnect, it feels like no time has passed. Although we sometimes drive each other crazy—being complete opposites—I wouldn’t trade our lifelong friendship for anything.

True friendships can withstand time and distance, and I cherish the bond we’ve built. I couldn't trade her for the world.

My Journey with Athena

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I faced loneliness and made the life-changing decision to adopt a dog. That’s when I met Athena, my 4-year-old lab mix. From the start, she was fearful of everything, including her own shadow. While she struggled with her past, I battled my own isolation.

Over time, we built a bond through trust and love. With each reassuring word, gentle touch, and a few bags of treats Athena grew more confident with each passing month. Watching her overcome her fears became a source of joy for me, and she quickly transformed into my best friend.

Now, Athena symbolizes resilience for both of us. With patience and care, we helped each other heal. If you’re considering adopting a pet, I encourage you to take the leap. They can bring incredible joy and transformation, just as Athena has brought to my life. Together, we embrace every new day with love and adventure.

Finding Beauty in Barren Fields

As winter approaches, the vibrant greens of the landscape begin to fade, and the beans have been harvested. Cover crops have been placed, this readies the soil for the colder months ahead. There's something special about this transition that I absolutely cherish.

I find great joy in taking leisurely strolls through the now-barren fields, where the deer and autumn leaves linger. The quietness of the season allows me to truly appreciate the raw beauty of nature in its simpler form. With this sense of peace, I can recharge from everyday life. It’s a reminder that every season has its own beauty, and I find solace in these moments of stillness.

So, as we transition into the colder months, I encourage you to take some time to explore the beauty that winter brings. You might be surprised at how much you can appreciate the simplicity of nature's quiet elegance.
